Teide National Park Tenerife
Tenerife is the largest island of the Canary Islands, a Spanish archipelago located in the Atlantic ocean. Teide National Park is located in the middle of the island Tenerife. The national park is on the World Heritage list and is named after the largest volcano on Tenerife called Mount Teide.
During my vacation on Tenerife I stayed 3 days in this National Park. Hotel Paradores is close to the Teide and is an ideal base for exploring Teide National Park. There’s a small restaurant next to the hotel but the offer is not special. If you going to stay in hotel Paradores make sure you did some shopping at a grocery store before you enter the park.
Mount Teide has an altitude of 3718 meters. If you don’t want to hike to the summit you can choose to go by cable car. The cable car goes up to the summit regularly. Buying tickets in advance is advisable because it’s very busy.
At Teide National Park you can really walk for hours. There are several indicated trails. Some of them have the Paradores hotel as their starting point.
Hike different routes and walk along beautiful rock formations, lava fields and sand hills. A real beauty is the trail to the top of the Guarjara. This mountain is 2718 meters high and the trail is excellent for anyone who has a good physical condition.
If you don’t want to do a long hike for an entire day or afternoon, choose to stay in the valley because there is a lot to explore.
For example have a look at the Roque Cinchado with the Teide in the background. Or drive your car to one of the viewpoints in the park.
